Paper cactus craft for Preschoolers (with free template)
Cactuses are cute no matter what activity you do with them – even if it’s just doodling, colouring or doing crafts like this.
So, today we are here with a simple cactus plant craft suitable for preschoolers.
Cactuses are interesting plants because they look different from the plants that kids usually see around them. So this craft is an opportunity to teach kids about how they are different and how they survive in the hot desert regions.
This is a low-prep activity if you do it with our free cactus template, so you need to gather only basic craft supplies you have at home.
Before moving on to the craft, we would appreciate it very much if you will check out our Youtube channel and subscribe to it. We upload new easy craft tutorials every week there that are different from what we publish on the blog. Thank you!

Step 2: Cut the shapes out from the template
In this step, we cut the shapes out from the template. But before that, stick the template on a cardboard piece as shown in the above picture, so that cactus plants can stay sturdy.
After sticking the template on a cardboard piece, cut the shapes out.
If your kids need assistance here, you can help them with the cutting part.
But we recommend letting them cut the shapes on their own as much as they can and you can trim the rest. Because more than neatness, what’s important is that they have fun, and learn to do things independently. Learning to cut shapes on their own will also help in developing their fine motor skills.
But for each craft activity, depending on the level of difficulty, you can provide appropriate assistance.
Step 3: Cut the cactus arms out

Cut the cactus arms out from the template.
And let the kids match the arms with the respective plants.
Now, let them put the pieces together and stick the arms to each corresponding cactus plant.
There we are! The cute cactus plants are ready. Now let them display the plants where they like.
You can also use these plants in other projects like making greeting cards or as decorative items.
So we hope you have fun with your kids doing this project. Let us know in the comments below how it went!
