How to make a handprint Santa

Step 1: Gather the materials

Start by gathering all the materials you will need for the craft.

You’ll need white, red, and pink construction paper, along with scissors, glue, googly eyes, a pencil, a small white pom-pom or cotton ball, and a black marker.

Step 2: Trace and cut the handprint

Place a sheet of white construction paper on the table and trace around the child’s hand with a pencil.

Carefully cut out the handprint using scissors. This handprint will form Santa’s beard and face.

Step 3: Make Santa’s hat

Take a piece of red construction paper and draw a simple Santa hat shape, using the handprint cutout we already have.

Place the white handprint upside down on the red paper. Trace along the curved edge of the handprint and around the thumb onto the red paper. You can join the two edges with a slightly curved line as shown in the picture above.

This will create Santa’s hat.

Now, cut out the hat carefully with scissors.

Step 4: Attach the Santa hat

Place the red Santa hat over the top portion of the handprint, with the hat sitting across the palm and above the fingers. Apply glue and stick the hat securely in place.

Step 5: Cut away the excess paper

Once the hat is attached, trim away the excess red paper around the thumb area so the shape resembles a Santa hat.

This will give the hat a cleaner and more defined outline.

Step 6: Add the pom-pom

Glue a small white paper circle cutout onto the tip of Santa’s red hat. You can also use a white pom-pom or a cotton ball here.

Use pink construction paper to cut out a curved piece for Santa’s face and beard area. You can also cut small white pieces for his moustache and a small red circle for his nose.

Glue the pink piece underneath the Santa hat, followed by the googly eyes. Add the small white moustache pieces and place the red circle in the center as Santa’s nose.
