Reindeer Headband Craft for Kids (with free template)

How to Make a Reindeer Headband

Step 1: Trace the reindeer pieces

Start by printing the reindeer headband template.

Place the template pieces for the reindeer head, antlers, and ears onto brown construction paper.

Trace each piece carefully with a pencil.

Step 2: Trace the facial details

Now prepare the smaller pieces for the reindeer’s face.

Trace the cheek blush pieces onto light pink construction paper.

Then trace the nose onto red construction paper.

Set these pieces aside for cutting.

Step 3: Cut out all the pieces

Carefully cut out all the pieces you have traced, including the reindeer head, antlers, ears, cheek blush, and nose.

You will also need to prepare the headband.

You can use the headband template included with the craft, or cut the bands according to the child’s head size. For larger heads, you can increase the length or number of paper strips as needed to make the headband fit comfortably.

Keep all the cut pieces together so they are ready for assembly.

Step 4: Draw the eyes

Take the brown reindeer head and use a black marker to draw two small eyes. We have incuded the eyes in the template, you can trace it or cut directly from the template.

Place them near the upper middle portion of the face, leaving enough space below for the muzzle and nose.

Step 5: Prepare the reindeer face

Now it’s time to put the reindeer’s face together!

Take the large brown reindeer head and add the facial pieces.

Glue the light-colored muzzle onto the lower part of the face.

Then glue the red nose onto the center of the muzzle.

Next, add the light pink cheek blush pieces on either side of the muzzle.

Press all the pieces gently so they stick securely.

Step 6: Add the antlers

Now give your reindeer its big antlers!

Take the two brown antler pieces and glue them to the back of the reindeer’s head.

Position one antler on each side of the top of the head, making sure they point upward.

Allow the glue to dry for a moment before moving on.

Step 7: Attach the ears

Next, add the reindeer’s cute little ears.

Take the ear pieces and attach them to the sides of the reindeer’s head, positioning them just below the antlers.

Glue them securely in place and press gently until they stick.

Your reindeer head is now complete!

Step 8: Attach the reindeer head

Take the completed reindeer head and the paper rectangles that will form the band.

Glue the bands to either side of the reindeer head on the back side, in a way so that the head will be exactly in the center and facing forward.

Allow the glue to dry before assembling the rest of the headband.

Step 9: Join the headband

Take the second paper strip and attach it to the first strip to create one long headband.

Wrap the headband gently around the child’s head to check the size.

If the headband is too short, add another strip or increase the length of the strips according to the child’s head size. You can also use the headband template provided to make the strips.

Once you have the right fit, glue or secure the ends together.

Make sure the headband is comfortable and secure before wearing it.
