Popsicle Stick Dragonfly Craft for Preschoolers
Did you know that a dragonfly can predict the weather?
In some parts of the world, it is believed that if the dragonfly flies high it will be sunny and if it flies low there will be rain.
I am not sure how true it is, but dragonflies are definitely fascinating creatures that captivate the imagination of kids with their vibrant colors and graceful flight.
You can see a dragonfly in different colors and hence you can play with a lot of colors when doing a dragonfly craft.
If you are looking for an easy dragonfly craft for preschoolers, try this one. This craft requires only 4 materials and a little bit of assistance from an adult to use a hot glue gun.
This craft provides a wonderful opportunity to teach children about these amazing insects while also allowing them to express their creativity.
Before moving on to the craft, we would appreciate it very much if you would check out our YouTube channel and subscribe to it. We upload new easy craft tutorials every week there that are different from what we publish on the blog. Thank you!
So, shall we start?
Materials Required:
- Medium-sized popsicle sticks
- Paint and brush(use any thick one, like poster paint or acrylic paint)
- Googly eyes (small ones)
- Hot glue
Easy Dragonfly craft idea (step-by-step tutorial)
Take 3 medium-sized popsicle sticks and paint.
Here we are using poster paint. You can use any thick paint you have.
Let kids paint the popsicle sticks. Paint two of them in yellow color and one in black.
The next step is to make the wings of the dragonfly.
Take one yellow craft stick and apply a few drops of hot glue in the middle. Then take the other yellow craft stick and glue it to the first stick (as shown in the bottom right pic of the above collage).
Make sure you glue them together in a criss-cross position.
Apply some hot glue again to the black color popsicle stick, at about 1/4 of the length of the stick from the top.
Glue the yellow sticks, a.k.a, the wings of the dragonfly, to the black stick.
Stick small googly eyes to the top end.
And we have our dragonfly ready!
You can make it in different colors of your choice.
This is a simple and quick craft, right?
