How to make a paper plate sunflower
Step 1: Draw the center

Take a paper plate and place a small round plate or bowl in the middle. Or use any tool you have handy to draw a circle.
Use a pencil to trace around it and create a circle in the center of the paper plate.
This circle will be the center of your sunflower.
Step 2: Cut the petals

Using scissors, make small cuts from the outer edge of the paper plate toward the pencil circle.
Continue cutting around the entire plate, keeping the cuts evenly spaced.
Then gently round the ends of the cut sections to create the sunflower petals.
Step 3: Paint the center

Paint the circle in the middle of the paper plate brown.
Make sure the entire circle is covered with paint, then leave it aside to dry completely.
Step 4: Paint the petals

Once the brown center is dry, paint all the petals around it yellow.
Cover each petal well with yellow paint and let the paint dry completely.
Step 5: Add the center details

Take black paint and add small black dots to the brown center of the sunflower.
Let the paint dry completely before moving on to the next step.
Step 6: Add the eyes

Stick two googly eyes onto the brown center.
Place them next to each other to give your sunflower a cute little face.
Step 7: Make the stem

Take a 15 cm × 7 cm rectangle-shaped piece of green paper.
Starting from one end, roll the paper very thinly all the way to the other end. Apply glue to the edge and secure it so you have a thin green stem.
Then glue the stem underneath the sunflower.
Step 8: Add the leaves

Cut out two leaf shapes from green paper.
Glue the two leaves onto either side of the stem. Press them gently so they stick well and allow the glue to dry.

Your paper plate sunflower is done!
Final words
And there you have it, a plain paper plate turned into one happy little sunflower! Bright yellow petals, a big brown center, googly eyes, and a little green stem.
So cute, right?
Don’t stop at one, though. Make a few more and you’ve got a whole paper garden ready to brighten up a classroom, playroom, or that little craft corner at home.
Want to have even more fun with it? Play around with the petal sizes or give each sunflower its own silly face. A winking one, a grumpy one, one with its tongue sticking out… the kids will love coming up with ideas.
So grab a paper plate and some paint, and let that sunflower garden grow!
