Step 2: Trace each flower and leaf

Choose the flower designs you want to use and place the template over your preferred colored paper.

Turn the craft paper over to check that the flower outline has transferred clearly. Following the outline, carefully trace the flower shape using a pencil.

Carefully cut along the pencil outline using scissors, and set aside the finished flower cutout.

Using a craft punch, cut small circles from contrasting colored paper to create flower centers. Prepare one circle for each flower you made.

If you don’t have a craft punch, you can simply draw and cut circles from paper. And glue the circle to the center of the flower.

Press gently and allow the glue to dry. Repeat this for as many flowers as you want, in different colors.

After finishing the flowers, let’s move on to making leaves.

For that, trace the leaf shapes from the template onto green craft paper. Cut out the leaf pieces carefully along the outline.

Make several leaves to add variety and fullness to the crown decoration.

Step 3: Cut out all the flowers and leaves

Now, create multiple flowers in different colors using the same tracing and cutting steps.

You can choose a color theme and make the flowers in those colors to make the crown look pretty.

Also, mix flower sizes to make the crown look bright and playful.

Now, arrange all flowers and leaves together so they are ready for assembly.

Step 4: Glue the flowers and leaves onto the crown band to make the crown

Cut a long strip of paper to form the crown band. We used a strip cut from a regular A4 sheet measuring approximately 30 cm long and 1.5 cm wide.

You can adjust the size of the band to fit your child or whoever will be wearing the crown.

Now, glue the flowers onto the band, slightly overlapping them for a layered look. Add leaves between flowers to fill empty spaces and make the crown look full and pretty.

We are almost there!

Punch a small hole on each end of the crown band and thread a piece of yarn or string through the holes. Tie knots to secure it, then adjust the length so the crown sits comfortably on the head.

There it is!

Your paper flower crown is now ready to wear. Place it gently on the head and adjust the string for a snug but comfortable fit.

Helpful Tips

  • Print the template on regular paper for tracing. If you plan to reuse the template multiple times, you can print it on thicker paper for extra durability
  • Younger children may need help with cutting detailed shapes
  • Use different color combinations to make each crown unique
  • A glue stick works best for paper crafts and dries faster with less mess
  • Make extra flowers and leaves so kids can decorate freely, bring their own craft ideas, like making cards
  • Adjust the yarn length at the back so the crown fits comfortably on different head sizes

Final Thoughts

This paper flower crown is a simple craft that turns basic supplies into something kids can proudly wear and enjoy.

We love this craft because it encourages creativity, color exploration, and hands-on crafting while creating a fun accessory for playtime or special occasions.

If multiple kids are doing it, you can ask them to experiment with different flower colors, add more leaves, or even design their own patterns to make each crown unique.
